Benefits of Pomegranate Seed Oil

I began using pomegranate seed oil on a daily basis in January 2011, for a skin rash. Most products didn’t cause the rash, but a hefty chunk of them made the situation worse. Kukui nut oil and organic jojoba oil were both very soothing but did not offer the same benefits I experienced after adding pomegranate seed oil to my daily regimen.

Firmer, more supple skin (the rash left my facial skin very fragile)

More even coloring, including a slight lightening of hyperpigmented areas (those brown spots we all want to zap away)

Pomegranate seed oil is not made from the juice or flesh of the pomegranate, it is derived from the fruit’s seeds. It takes a lot of seeds to create an ounce of oil, so the oil is somewhat more expensive than many others, but definitely worth the cost, and just a few drops will do the trick. I think of it as my liquid gold.

I often use pomegranate seed oil by itself, but now that my rash is under control I sometimes mix the oil with a serum.

I love several types of serums, but they can be intense, and an irritant if applied directly to sensitive skin. Try the mix-trick to see how your skin reacts. Another method that I love is mixing rose hip seed oil and pomegranate seed oil. The lighter weight of the rose hip seed oil makes the thick pomegranate more fluid and easier to apply evenly, and brings its own set of skin love to the mix.

I have used the pomegranate seed oil on the skin of many clients with excellent results, no matter what type of skin they have, but do keep in mind that your skin may have different needs.
